Thank you to our ST community for offering feedback on our proposed backing tracks library which has just fifteen titles at the moment, whilst we run the trial.

Our backing tracks including lyrics are specifically designed for singing leaders working in community, social care and education. They are basic digital piano recordings recorded live and offer simple accompaniment to your singing sessions. They are recorded in easy to sing keys, often a little lower than the original commercial recordings. They deliberately leave lots of space for you to develop your melodies, harmonies and percussion as you see fit. A few have melodies too.

Imagine you have a friend sat next to you playing along on the piano as you and your group enjoy the singing, that is basically the idea here.

When we eventually launch we thought around £6 a month subscription charge with a discount on this for ST enrolled students. We have to charge something because our license requires we pay a small royalty every time a song is streamed.

Depending on your feedback we're thinking of launching our library with say twenty five or thirty titles and if the feedback is positive we will build this up to a hundred titles over a period of six months or so. Perhaps long term goal a library of some 150 to 200 titles which again, we will only pursue if the demand is there.

We may also produce some tracks with simple acoustic guitar as well, we shall see where it leads.

Please note our license does not cover printing of lyrics for your singers but it does cover the display of the lyrics provided with the recordings on a Smart TV. Whilst many of us print lyyrics all the time for our sessions this has to be your own decision and not something we can recommend. Some help below with streaming and connections

Playback Instructions

PianoTrax is a streaming library so there is no need to download anything. You will need a good internet signal either through your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer. If the signal on your phone is poor consider connecting to the wifi of the venue if it is available. You will need their password. This will also reduce the chance of data costs depending upon your phone package.

If you have a bluetooth speaker then be sure to connect your fone or tablet to this device to allow for better quality sound reproduction. Here is a video with some tips

Alternatively you can use the headphone output of your fone tablet or computer to connect to an external speak using a 'mini-jack to mini jack' cable. These are freely available off the internet or your local computer store.

If your phone does not have a headphone output you will need an adapter cable that plugs into your phone. Advice here Another video with tips

In some venues you may be able to connect your device to a Smart TV using bluetooth or a 'USB-C to HDMI' cable and this will ensure the lyrics are displayed for your singing group participants. Some help here
